Study on the Lighting Effect of Different Light Sources on Plant Growth
——Netherlands Agricultural University Full Spectrum Plant Lighting Research Project
Experimental Overview
4 experimental sites:Netherlands, greenhouse, winter;
Experiment time:Starting from December 7th, 2015;
4 types of light sources:High pressure sodium lamp (HPS)LED;Ceramic metal halide lamp, plasma light source (LEP);
5 types of crops:Tomatoes, rapeseed, lettuce, radish, roses;
Research from various perspectives:Durability, composition, growth, quality, health, nutritional content, yield, rhizomes, planting, initial stage, color, white sugar content, fruit, flowering period, taste, impact, etc.
4 sets of light sources with equivalent power
Non full spectrum light source——
High pressure sodium lamp: 1035W, CRI 24
LED: Plant Growth Light 1100W
Full spectrum light source——
Plasma lamp: 4 * 270W, CRI 94
Ceramic metal halide lamp: 2 * 760W, CRI>90
On site effect perception
Plasma light sources do not have orange and pink colors like HPS/LED;
Plasma light is softer and feels more comfortable;
Using LED requires additional heating equipment.
Results after 4 days
Most lettuce under full spectrum appears red.
Under plasma and ceramic metal halide lamps, lettuce appears more red.
Under LED light, there is only some red color, while lettuce under sodium light has almost no red color.
The result after 2 weeks
Growth is better under full spectrum and best under plasma.
All crops
It grows vigorously under plasma and ceramic metal halide lamps.
romaine lettuce
Under plasma, the color is redder and grows more than under other light sources;
Under LED, the color is normal, but the growth is less than that of plasma;
The color under high-pressure sodium lamp is lighter and there is less growth.
Results after 3 weeks
All crops grow best under full spectrum, with lettuce growing the best under plasma.
romaine lettuce
The growth is best under full spectrum, and it is better under LED than under high-pressure sodium lamp;
The colors under plasma are the most vibrant and the growth is the most vigorous, including appearance and other research projects.
radish
The crops that grow best under full spectrum have results within a week.
rape
The growth is best under full spectrum, and the flowers bloom the best.
Tomatoes
The best growth occurs under full spectrum, and the flowers are about to bloom.
