What is a Light Emitting Plasma (LEP)

What is a plasma light source (LEP light source)?

1. Technical principle of plasma light source

Plasma light source, also known as luminescent plasma, is referred to as Light Emitting Plasma in EnglishLEP, abbreviated as LEP, is a broad-spectrum point light source with high brightness, high color rendering, high stability, and long lifespan. The technical principle is to inject high-intensity microwave energy into an electrodeless light bulb, excite the plasma inside the bulb to discharge and emit light, thereby producing dazzling white light or other customized spectral light sources.

The spectral range of white light output by LEP is very wide, including ultraviolet, visible to infrared bands, with a wavelength range covering 190-2500nm. It is currently the closest light source to the solar spectrum, also known as artificial sun.

Although plasma light source technology has a history of nearly 30 years, there are only three companies in the world that have mastered the core technology of this plasma light source, one in the United States and one in the United Kingdom. Zhongke Microwave has been dedicated to this technology for ten years, becoming the third company in the world to master the core technology of continuous full spectrum plasma light sources, and surpassing the two companies that were more than ten years earlier in multiple aspects.

2Plasma light sourcecomponent

The plasma light source mainly consists of three parts: a driving power supply, a microwave solid-state source, and a high-purity quartz infinite bulb. The bulb contains various inert gases and rare metal halides.

3Plasma light sourceLighting process

Turning on the power, the microwave creates a high-frequency electromagnetic field, ionizing inert gases to form high-density plasma, emitting brilliant blue, green, and purple light. As the plasma continues to heat and excite metal halides, activating atoms and molecules, and continuously releasing dazzling full spectrum white light. This white light, like sunlight, contains ultraviolet, visible, and infrared light, with a complete spectral curve comparable to the solar spectrum, making it a true full spectrum light source.

4PlasmaCharacteristics and application fields of light sources

Plasma light sources are energy-saving and efficient, with excellent color rendering, constant color temperature, no flicker, low light attenuation, strong penetration through smoke, rain, and haze, and a lifespan of over 50000 hours. Widely used in high-end lighting fields such as solar simulation systems, animal and plant growth lighting, high-end sports venue lighting, underground command center lighting, port and dock lighting, machine vision light sources, medical endoscope light sources, etc.

The popularization of plasma light sources marks the fifth era of lighting technology for humanity, allowing organisms to bask in sunlight at any time, enhancing immunity and vitality. Zhongke Microwave focuses on plasma light source technology and cordially invites outstanding lighting companies from around the world to deepen cooperation and jointly lead the new era of full spectrum lighting.
